Bio sketch
I am a postdoctoral researcher at the Distributed Information Systems Laboratory, EPFL, since February 2005. I received an M.S. (1999) and a Ph.D. (2004) in electrical engineering, major in telecommunications and informatics, from the University of Zagreb, Croatia.
I am currently on leave from the University of Zagreb, FER, where I work as an assistant since 1997. I was a guest researcher (2000) and research associate (2001) at the
Distributed Systems Group, TU Vienna. My main research interests are on large-scale distributed systems, publish/subscribe systems, and information retrieval over P2P overlays.

Alvis - Superpeer Semantic Search Engine (project coordinator)

A European STREP project in the Semantic-based knowledge systems program (Jan 2004 - Dec 2006). The project conducts research in the design, use and interoperability of topic-specific search engines with the goal of developing an open source prototype of a distributed, semantic-based search engine. LSIR participates with the development of P2P infrastructure for a distributed Web search engine.

Bricks - Building Resources for Integrated Cultural Knowledge Services (project coordinator)

A European Integrated Project in the Digital Libraries program (Jan 2004 - Jun 2007). The goal of BRICKS is the definition, development and maintenance of a user- and service-oriented space to share knowledge and resources in the cultural heritage domain. LSIR participates by realizing a decentralized metadata storage.
